The Government requirement is that Local Plans are reviewed every five years in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).  However, Horsham District Council, whose Local Plan will be five years old in November, have written to the Government Housing Secretary, Robert Jenrick, asking for the review to be “paused”, due to the outbreak of Coronavirus.

Last year, a High Court judgement stated that policies should not be considered as out of date, just because they are five years old.

Horsham District Council are hoping that due to the challenges they are currently dealing with in the light of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Government will extend the review period.
