Ben joined Bloomfields in 2021, bringing with him 16 years of experience working in the planning profession across both the public and private sectors. Having worked at three East Kent Local Planning Authorities, Ben has worked on a wide range of planning applications and various development types. Since 2016, Ben has been working within the private sector advising clients on a range of planning issues, with a particular emphasis on residential, commercial and student developments. Ben has completed an RTPI accredited Masters degree in Planning Policy and Practice and is a Chartered member of the RPTI.


  • BSc (Hons) Degree in Geography with Media and Cultural Studies from Canterbury Christ Church University, including being awarded the Cluttons prize for best dissertation.
  • Master’s Degree in Planning Policy and Practice from London South Bank University.
  • Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.


  • During his time working for Local Planning Authorities, Ben worked on several large-scale strategic planning applications, predominantly for residential and mixed-use developments. At the same time he managed a team of Planning Officers to ensure delivery of a high-quality service.
  • Working in the private sector, Ben has also prepared and submitted applications on behalf of national house builders, as well as for private individuals on large development sites.
  • He has worked on a number of regeneration projects, including the redevelopment of heavily constrained former industrial sites for mixed use residential and commercial purposes, as well as large purpose-built student accommodation.
  • Ben has experience of working on behalf of clients further afield in Sussex, Surrey and London and enjoys positive working relationships with a significant number of Local Authorities.
  • Ben also has experience with Section 106 Agreement negotiations, planning appeals and enforcement matters and provides thorough advice to clients on all aspects of the planning process.


  • Anything sport related, including watching football at Folkestone Invicta, where he is a season-ticket holder, and Liverpool FC.
  • He enjoys running and occasionally hacking his way around a golf course on evenings and weekends, as well as spending time with friends and family.
  • Ben is also a keen traveller, in particular involving visiting places across Europe whenever time allows.
