Sevenoaks District Council has launched the Regulation 19 Publication consultation for its new Local Plan, marking an important milestone in the plan-making process.
The consultation opened in July 2026 and will run for eight weeks, closing at 11.59pm on Thursday 17 September 2026.
The Regulation 19 stage is a key opportunity for residents, businesses, developers and other stakeholders to review the proposed Local Plan before it is submitted for independent examination. Unlike previous consultation stages, representations at this stage should focus on whether the Plan is legally compliant and sound, rather than suggesting new policy ideas.
Why is this consultation important?
Any comments submitted during the Regulation 19 consultation will be passed directly to the independent Planning Inspector appointed to examine the Local Plan. This is therefore the final opportunity to make formal representations before the examination begins.
If you wish to request participation in the examination hearings, you must also submit your representation during this consultation period.
How to view the Local Plan
The Regulation 19 Publication documents, along with a summary leaflet and frequently asked questions, are available on the Sevenoaks District Council website. Hard copies can also be viewed throughout the consultation period at:
- Sevenoaks District Council offices
- Libraries across the District
- Town and Parish Council offices
How to submit your comments
Representations can be submitted online via Sevenoaks District Council’s consultation portal, which is the Council’s preferred method. Alternatively, comments can be sent by post using the downloadable questionnaire.
The consultation questionnaire asks respondents to comment on whether the Local Plan is legally compliant and sound, and to identify any modifications they consider necessary. As representations made at this stage are submitted directly to the Planning Inspector, it is important that comments clearly explain any concerns and proposed changes.
The consultation closes at 11.59pm on Thursday 17 September 2026.
