The Localism Act (2011) gave a greater emphasis to local communities in planning and delivering projects and schemes that had the community at their heart, empowering cities, and other local areas to make valued decisions in their own areas.

Parish and Town Council’s can deliver these projects by benefitting from a 50% reduction in the Local Planning Authorities planning application fee, and being eligible for several grant schemes to support Neighbourhood Plan preparation and Community Right to Build projects.
