Rother District Council has published the Proposed Submission Version of its Local Plan 2025–2042, setting out the proposed framework for development across the district up to 2042.
The Plan identifies how future development, including new homes, employment opportunities, facilities and infrastructure, could be accommodated while seeking to protect Rother’s valued landscapes, heritage and local character.
Have your say on the Local Plan
The formal Regulation 19 consultation opened on 12 October 2026 and runs until 11:59 pm on Tuesday 24 November 2026.
This stage provides an opportunity for residents, landowners, developers and other interested parties to submit representations on whether the Plan meets the relevant legal requirements and national tests of soundness before it is submitted to the Secretary of State for independent examination.
The consultation follows earlier public engagement in 2024 and early 2026.
How to respond
The Local Plan and its supporting evidence can be viewed on Rother District Council’s website. Representations should preferably be submitted through the Council’s online consultation portal before the deadline.
