Bromley Council’s Local Plan, which sets out planning policies, site allocations and land designations for the borough of Bromley, was adopted in 2019.  In line with the requirements of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended), the London Borough of Bromley is reviewing their Local Plan to assess whether it needs updating.

At a national level planning policy was updated in July 2021. Additionally, the London Plan was adopted in March 2021 which included planning policy updates relevant to London Boroughs and included an increase in Bromley Borough’s housing target from 641 units per annum to 774 units per annum.

With these changes, as part of their Local Plan review, the Issues and Options (Regulation 18) consultation is running up to the end of June 2023. This seeks to gather views from stakeholders to inform the development of the new local plan.

Following this, the next statutory stage for updating the Local Plan is the Regulation 19 consultation, which will provide an opportunity for representations to be made on the amendments to the local plan before it is examined by a planning inspector.
