Confirmation has been received from Rother District Council that Prior Approval is not required for a new 600m2 agricultural barn with surrounding concrete hardstanding for the storage of hay and machinery.
The proposed location of this development was sought to cover a redundant slurry lagoon and dirty water pond. Rother District Council were in agreement that the engineering operations to facilitate this build were reasonably necessary for the purposes of agriculture and that the importation of 4,000m3 of material was deemed necessary to fill in the lagoon to enable the build as well as to gently grade the land back into the existing surrounding topography.
This application was supported by plans produced by our in house architectural team, which provided a clearly designed scheme for the Council to determine.
This Prior Notification has allowed our client to repurpose a redundant area of the farmyard to further his farming business, benefitting from the shortened ’28 day’ notice provision afforded under agricultural permitted development rights.
