Prior notification has been approved for a new 12m x 25m general purpose farm barn and workshop within the green belt and High Weald AONB. The workshop incorporates a single bay secured by way of a roller shutter door, which is flanked by three open fronted storage bays. The building was consented on a greenfield site to start the client’s new farmstead and paves the way for him to further develop the site to improve his agricultural business.
With careful initial consideration, the barn’s siting and orientation was discussed with the client and was deemed to likely be satisfactory to the LPA to ensure its visual intrusion was minimised within the heavily designated area, but could be conveniently accessed from a classified road meaning it was suitable for the client’s large agricultural machinery and equipment.
The application was closely monitored during the 28 day determination period which only yielded the Rural Estates Surveyor’s complementary report and, ultimately, the approval decision notice.
