Bloomfields has secured a major planning permission on 10,000 sq m site for the installation of a new bespoke lagoon to store 4,000m3 of dairy slurry. The lagoon will now facilitate the herd expansion from 120 to 200 milking Norwegian Red – Holstein cross cattle.
The permission also allowed for the creation of a landscape earth bank to surround the lagoon to help it assimilation into its surroundings.
West Sussex Highways had initial concerns in relation to construction traffic movement, however this was quickly dealt with the submission of a comprehensive Construction Management Plan. Working closely also with our client’s ecologists, a scheme was presented and approved which ensured a nearby badger sett was protected, without any issue to the practicalities of the scheme’s operation. The scheme also provided for the repurposing of the farm’s existing dirty water pond to a freshwater wildlife pond which greatly assisted in generating the necessary biodiversity net gain for the project.
