Bloomfields was engaged to design and gain planning permission for a barn to support a farm’s equestrian activities.
Requiring internal stables with office and storage above; we created an appropriate design that remained sympathetic to the nearby listed building. Following on from consultation with the Environment Agency, we analysed the flood data they provided and drafted the application to ensure it was permissible in an area prone to heavy flooding.
It was passed without complication, despite the barn being larger than permitted by the Supplementary Planning Guidance. Regardless of calls by the Parish Council to go to Committee with a refusal, we convinced the Council to deal with matters under delegated powers.
