After successfully obtaining full planning permission for the retention of our clients’ mobile home and associated additions as an independent dwelling-house, Bloomfields engaged with Tunbridge Wells Borough Council to discuss the prospects of replacing the structures with a sustainable and attractive home.
Following these discussions, our architectural team worked with our clients to design a home tailored to their needs and arrived at a unique 3-bedroom house with views over their farm land. In the interest of reducing the visual impact of the proposal on the AONB, it was designed to comprise a dual pitched roof, natural vertical timber cladding which would weather into the landscape, a green roof and a low form split into three distinct masses and semi-excavated into the existing topography.
Upon the submission of the application, TWBC accepted that, whilst the proposal would result in an over 70% volume increase, it would be no more obtrusive in the landscape than the dwelling it replaced and provide for an overall improvement to the landscape and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
We are thrilled to have been able to deliver our clients such positive results.
