Permitted Development of Horticultural Storage Building

A permitted development application was granted by Wealden District Council for a new horticultural storage building on an agricultural holding near Heathfield supporting UK grown and produced plants.  Despite being within the High Weald National Landscape, the application was determined with prior approval not required due to the scale of the development and its support in boosting the traditional pattern in agriculture.

The building is set to remain respectful to the surrounding area, situated within the site’s fields, using functional materials.  It was clear that they new storage building would create more efficient management of the farm, creating space away from the client’s home to help the horticultural business grow, supporting UK propagation and plant heritage as well as reducing reliance on imports.
