After previously obtaining consent for the erection of two detached dwellings on the edge of a settlement and outside limits to built development within the Kent Downs AONB, Bloomfields were able to obtain consent for a further third dwelling.
This dwelling was secured because of Bloomfields’ initial work in persuading the Planning Inspectorate that the Council’s adoption of a Local Plan with adequate housing supply, even if the site is also designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, should not be sufficient to refuse planning permission for new houses. In this case it was accepted that despite the site forming part of the countryside, because it’s surrounded by development on several sides, and the dwelling had been designed mindfully, it wouldn’t cause harm to the character and appearance of the area.
