Bloomfields was approached by a client after their previous agent had designed a house, made an application (which was refused) and then had an appeal dismissed for an infill dwelling due to the ‘unacceptable harm to the character and appearance of the area’.
Despite starting out from this difficult position, Bloomfields brought their own team of architectural designers and planners in and worked closely within the boundary of the site to develop a more realistic proposal, working within the policy constraints and being mindful of immediate neighbours. This required some negotiation with the Council, and the provision of some additional reports to demonstrate to the Council that a revised proposal could be provided despite the dismissed appeal and the perceived impact on the character of the area.
