A new supplementary planning document has been released by Reigate and Banstead BC which seeks to support residential and business development across the borough to be accountable to the challenges of mitigating and adapting to climate change whilst also seeking to address sustainability issues.

The document provides supplementary guidance with reference to sustainable transport links, carbon reduction, layout and building design to reduce energy need, renewable and low carbon power and heating, green infrastructure and ecology for reduced energy needs and climate adaptation as well as water resources, environmental sustainability, climate adaptation and heritage alongside sustainable construction.

The guidance seeks to complement the local plan and national policies with practical ideas and measures, whilst also recognising that new technologies are ever evolving and their contributions should not be stifled.
