The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities announced on the 19th November 2022 that almost £35 million from the £180 million Brownfield Land Release Fund 2 has been allocated to 41 Councils, including:

  • Canterbury City Council (£554,500);
  • Dover District Council (£100,535);
  • Folkestone & Hythe District Council (£465,000);
  • Rother District Council (£185,000),
  • Sevenoaks District Council (£1,215,000) and
  • Wealden District Council (£300,000).

This funding aims to bring disused Council-owned land back into use; such as redundant industrial sites, car parks and buildings, by funding infrastructure and remediation work to release the land for new homes.

The fund seeks to “level up the country” enabling local areas to achieve their potential, whilst also protecting green spaces.
