Included among other European protected species; the penalty for harming or disturbing a Great Crested Newt carries an unlimited fine and up to 6 months in prison per offence, regardless if it is deliberate or accidental.

Fortunately for developers, there are options to mitigate this impact upon your build.  The District Level Licence (DLL) is a new option available in Kent and Cheshire and allows for a fast track process that no longer requires an ecologist present during any works.

Both L&F and Bloomfields have had successful applications within the DLL and the traditional mitigation route, so we are able to offer guidance and support throughout all facets of the planning and development process.
