New regulations have been published which will bring into force various changes to planning application fees and procedures. In particular;
• Fees paid in respect of applications relating to major development will increase by 35% and all other application types by 25%.
• Fees can be increased annually in line with inflation from April 2025.
• There will no longer be any opportunity for “free-go” applications.
• The Planning Guarantee (the time frame to obtain a refund on non-major applications that have not been determined) is reduced from 26, to 16 weeks.
These changes will come into force and relate to planning applications submitted from the 6th December 2023.
