Further to the residential redevelopment of three of the site’s former nursery buildings, as well as changes to its main access, the main nursery yard had become more difficult to access with larger items of agricultural and nursery equipment. Bloomfields was instructed with the brief to suggest a suitable alternative location for the general purpose nursery building, away from the newly established residential development and obtain full planning permission for its full dismantlement and its rebuilding on this new site.
The new site for the barn was established, being in the adjacent field, close to an existing field gate onto the main road and planning permission was subsequently achieved for the nursery barn’s ‘lift & shift’. The application attracted some local opposition, as well as from the Parish Council, but through justified and coherent arguments for the barn’s relocation, the application was approved within the 8 week time period. The barn’s relocation has enabled the nursery business to continue and also has provided more residential space to be aesthetically landscaped to the benefit of the new residential developments.
