Further to a previous Permitted Development application being determined as ‘prior approval required’ in respect of ecology and heritage, Bloomfields resubmitted a fresh PD application complete with additional information and detail pertaining to habitats on site as well as an archaeology method statement for the intended works. The application was necessary to support a growing farming business for housing suckler cows and stores throughout the year.
In a National Park, which is afforded the highest status of protection, Bloomfields comprehensively demonstrated that the design could be assimilated into its surrounds via a sensitive landscaping scheme to help screen the two elevated buildings. The application was approved within the 28 day period and as the buildings were more than 400m away from the nearest ‘protected dwelling’, the buildings can be occupied by livestock, despite being approved under PD, meaning the client was not required to provide complex BNG enhancements on the site.
