Outline planning permission has been allowed by the Planning Inspectorate, following the Borough Council’s decision to refuse to grant planning permission for the erection of 7 dwellinghouses on the outskirts of the settlement of Upchurch.

The original planning application was submitted in outline form only, with matters of appearance, landscaping and scale reserved for future consideration.

A strong case was presented that the site is within a sustainable location, more closely related to the village than the wider countryside, with good connectivity and facilities within the village.

It was successfully demonstrated that the proposed layout presented a continuation of the existing, established built form within the area and would reflect the prevailing pattern of development, in effect rounding off the village.
