Bloomfields has secured a major planning permission on a 38,000 sq m landscaped site for a new 4,000 tonne self-feed silage clamp, an upgraded dirty water pond and drainage management system as well as a new dairy cubicle housing extension to accommodate a further 140 milking cows.
The development will work in conjunction with the existing dairy unit and will completely transform the operation of the dairy enterprise in terms of efficiency and modernisation. The scheme will enhance the farm’s dirty water handling system into a modern and Environment Agency compliant water management system.
The application has been a number of years in the making given the landscape, heritage and ecological sensitivities of the site, all these were addressed and resolved through in-depth correspondence and discussions with the case officer.
The case was comprehensively demonstrated as being a fundamental and necessary improvement to the existing dairy unit to enable the farm’s projected herd growth plan which ultimately secures the business to the next generation.
