Bloomfields has secure a major planning permission on a 50,000m2 landscaped site for a replacement slurry lagoon and three 2,700 tonne silage clamps.

The development will work in conjunction with the existing dairy unit and will completely transform the operation of the dairy enterprise in terms of efficiency and modernisation.
The scheme will enhance the farm’s dirty water handling system into a modern and Environment Agency compliant water management system.

The application had sensitive ecology and habitat issues to resolve, such as greater crested newts, badgers and ancient woodland. All these were addressed and resolved through in depth correspondence and discussions with the case officer.

In addition, a footpath crossed the site and this was applied to be diverted as part of the planning permission, requiring a separate consultation with East Sussex Rights of Way department.

This permission covers an area almost 50,000m2 and proposed a significant development. Through the presentation of a robust and justified case to the LPA, this large agricultural infrastructure project was deemed absolutely necessary for necessary efficiency enhancements and ultimately the continued furtherment of a long standing dairy farm.
