Bloomfields has secured a Lawful Development Certificate for the erection of 68 solar panels on to the rear roof of a recreation and amenity block at Swanton Farm for our client, AC Goatham & Son, the exclusive apple supplier to Aldi.

Kent-based fruit farm AC Goatham & Son has signed a new £750m supply deal with Aldi to last for 20 years.  The grower has supplied Britain’s fourth-largest supermarket since 2016 and earlier last year was announced as Aldi’s sole supplier of British apples.

Following updates released in December 2023, the capacity of solar panels can now exceed 1 megawatt, so we made full use of this by gaining permission for the installation of 68 solar panels onto the rear roof of an amenity block at Swanton Farm, producing approximately 30kw of power to the farm.
